Wake-up Call: 2014 HIV Victims in CDO increases more than 100% from Last Year’s Result

HIV is one of the major health issues in Cagayan de Oro today. This year, around 200 tested patients in the city are carrying the disease plus those individuals who do not know if they are infected or not. Most of the infected victims are men who perform unsafe anal sex with other men.

This year’s HIV victims raises more than 100% from last year’s statistics. Thus, CDO remains as “hotspot” as cases keep on increasing in the city. This result emphasizes that there are still many Kagay-anons who are not fully aware of what  are the effects of having such disease. It also shows that many are reluctant or afraid to have a test to know if they are infected or not. The consequences are taken for granted by many Kagay-anons resulting to a big threat in the city.
